Fairfield, Keokuk set to collide
Trojan football will look to win its second straight with a victory over the Chiefs

KEOKUK — Fairfield football will be looking for its third win of the year on Friday night with a victory over Keokuk.
The Trojans (2-2) had a couple of tough losses prior to last weeks late 29-28 victory over Knoxville. The Trojans defeated Mt. Pleasant 41-20, but then lost in the waning minutes of the game against Ottumwa, 22-16 and Fort Madison, 16-13.
Fairfield will look to keep its winning ways against Keokuk (2-2), while also spoiling the Chiefs homecoming.
Tate Allen leads Fairfield with 678 passing yards and 10 touchdowns.
Injured Hunter Cecchini leads the Trojans with 180 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Allen follows with 161 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Miles McEntee rounds out the rushing attack with 117 yards and a touchdown.
The Trojans leading receiver is Max Weaton. Weaton has 24 catches on the year for 363 yards and seven touchdowns. Tallon Bates follows with 104 yards and a touchdown. Cason Miller has 63 yards and touchdowns as well.
Defensively, Lucas Konczal and Sam Weaton both have 11 tackles a piece. Weaton leads the team with seven solo tackles.
Keokuk began the season with two losses to Fort Madison, 22-13 and Burlington, 35-21. As of late the Chiefs have been clicking on both sides of the ball, picking up wins over Mt. Pleasant, 45-29 and Oskaloosa, 14-7.
Brenton Hoard is the Chiefs leading passer, carding 544 yards and six touchdowns. Lucas Swainey has 107 yards as well.
In the rushing game, Malachai Doughlas paces Keokuk with 261 yards and two touchdowns. Hoard follows with 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Diego Garcia is the main target in the passing game. Garcia has 21 catches on the year for 356 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, Liam O’Donnell leads with 31 total tackles, 20 solo. Emerson Glasgow follows with 21.5 total and 14 solo.
In the past five years, Keokuk holds a 3-2 record over Fairfield. The Trojans will look to even that series with a win Friday. Fairfield took last years meeting 38-13.
Friday nights game will begin at 7:30 at Keokuk’s Calvert Stadium.
