WILLIAMSBURG -- Fairfield girls basketball’s season came to a close on Saturday night with a 55-15 loss to Williamsburg in the opening round of the Class 3A Region 4 playoff.
The Raiders proved to have too much firepower as the Trojans were held to single digits in all four quarters.
Williamsburg put together its highest scoring quarter of the night right out of the gate. The Raiders scored 21 points in the opening period, all while giving up just one point to the Trojans.
Fairfield could never get it going as that was the only point for the Trojans through the first half.
Meanwhile, Williamsburg built a 40-1 lead through that span.
The Trojans hung with the Raiders in the second half, but the deficit was too great in the end. Fairfield was outscored 15-14 in the second half.
Grace Lyon scored five points for Fairfield. Faith Jones added four and Lauren Martin followed with two.
Fairfield ends it season at 1-21.
