Fairfield man wins 5K race
WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Fairfield resident Peter Mannisi was the overall winner of the 13th annual Hospice of Washington County 5K Memorial Walk/Run held Saturday in Washington?s Sunset Park.

WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Fairfield resident Peter Mannisi was the overall winner of the 13th annual Hospice of Washington County 5K Memorial Walk/Run held Saturday in Washington?s Sunset Park.
The 65-year-old won the race with a time of 19:54, which was nearly 26 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Mannisi was in second place at the midway point before running away with the victory over the course?s final mile. He ran a 10:10 split over the first half and a 9:44 second half.
Mannisi is coach of the Maharishi University of Management Running Club, which will be participating in a 5K/10K race at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park in Keosauqua Oct. 14.
