Eighth-grade team wins 'B' game
The eighth-grade football team won one of two games in its season-opener vs. Keokuk with the ?A? team falling 12-50.

Eighth-grade team wins 'B' game
The eighth-grade football team won one of two games in its season-opener vs. Keokuk with the ?A? team falling 12-50.
Jordan Reid led all rushers with 76 yards and a touchdown. Reid also connected on two passes for 20 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown pass to Alex Crile.
Defensively, Luis Jimenez got in on 10 tackles, while Zach Martin and Logan Angstead had six and five tackles apiece. Kevin Smithburg tallied two tackles and came away with a fumble recovery.
In the ?B? team?s 18-0 win, Smithburg, Gavin Stever, Drew Stever and Crile all had two tackles. Crile also forced a fumble.
Garret Bowermaster led all rushers with 85 yards and a touchdown. Trae Van Tasell connected with Tristan Ledger for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Next up for the Trojans will be a trip to Mount Pleasant next Tuesday.
Seventh-grade team opens season with one win
The seventh-grade ?A? team lost to Keokuk 18-8.
Kleyton Benedict threw 4-of-12 passes for 25 yards. John Osby hauled in three catches for 18 yards, including one touchdown, and Denver Schultz had one catch for six yards.
The Trojans were led defensively by Michael Fritz with 10 tackles and Tony Zapata with eight tackles and one fumble recovery.
The ?B? team won 8-0 thanks to a Dylan Abbott 1-yard touchdown run and Alex Conrad safety. Abbott rushed nine times for 62 yards.
The Trojans will host Mount Pleasant next Tuesday.
