Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant volleyball compete in Oskaloosa
Fairfield goes 2-2, Mt. Pleasant finishes 1-3

OSKALOOSA — Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield volleyball were in action on Saturday, as the pair headed to Oskaloosa for the Oskaloosa Volleyball Invite.
Both squads finished the tournament with wins and losses, facing some tough competition.
Fairfield ended its tournament run with a pair of wins as well as a pair of losses.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant picked up one win on the day along with three defeats.
The Trojans picked up a pair of wins over Des Moines North and Mt. Pleasant in the competition, while falling in back-to-back matches to North Mahaska and Oskaloosa.
Fairfield defeated Des Moines North handily in two sets 21-9 and 21-8.
Following that match, the Trojans grabbed a victory over Southeast Conference rival Mt. Pleasant in two sets 21-6 and 21-6.
In their losses the Trojans took at least one set, bouncing back in the second against both North Mahaska and Oskaloosa.
Against the Warhawks, the Trojans were edged 22-20 in the opening set, but won the second 21-11 before falling in a narrow defeat 19-17 in the final.
The battle with the host Indians was similar, as Oskaloosa won the opener 22-20 and Fairfield took the second 21-18. But this time around Oskaloosa dominated the third 15-5.
For Mt. Pleasant, its lone victory came against the Polar Bears of Des Moines North a 2-0 sweep.
Along with the win, the Panthers came up short in the other three bouts.
Ottumwa got the better of Mt. Pleasant in a competitive two set series 21-16 and 21-17.
The Panthers fell to Marshalltown 2-0 coupled with the loss to Fairfield.
