Fairfield opens girls swiming season

OTTUMWA - The Fairfield High School girls swimming team opened its season Thursday with a win and a loss.
Fairfield defeated Oskaloosa 109-79, but fell to the host Bulldogs 156-76.
Fairfield's Clare Else was third in the 500 yard free with a time of 8 minutes, 2.74 seconds. Emily McAvan was seventh in 8:26.03. Else was fourth in the 100 breast in 1:32.41. Maddy Hanna was sixth in 1:36.22.
The Trojans 200 freestyle relay was fourth in 2:38.6 with Katie McLain, Delaney Breen, Claire Pettit and Kyra Hunter.
Tessa Seibert (1:42.17) and Hunter (1:54) placed sixth and seventh respectively in the 100 back.
Erica Olson, Hanna, Else and McAvan were third in the 400 free relay in 4:57.82.
