Fairfield, Ottumwa split in JV softball
Mackenzi Harwood knocked in six runs off two home runs and a triple, and the Fairfield JV softball team topped Ottumwa 10-7 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday.
Trojan starter Alli Deao pitched six innings for the win, allowing five runs while fanning one batter. Mikaela Amendt closed out the seventh inning.

Mackenzi Harwood knocked in six runs off two home runs and a triple, and the Fairfield JV softball team topped Ottumwa 10-7 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday.
Trojan starter Alli Deao pitched six innings for the win, allowing five runs while fanning one batter. Mikaela Amendt closed out the seventh inning.
Deao helped her own cause with three base knocks, Addison Thornton tallied two singles, and Lindsey Repp and Sierra Simmons had one single apiece.
The Trojan JV team dropped the second game 13-3.
Fairfield?s Delaney Neil allowed nine runs in three innings of work, but the defense committed eight errors behind her. Amendt again worked in relief, pitching the final two innings and allowing four runs on six hits.
From the plate, Fairfield?s Kelsey Roberts hit a single and a triple, Emma Kuehl doubled and Harley Cook tallied one single.
Fairfield?s JV team plays at Washington Thursday.
