Fairfield, Pekin girls compete at indoor track

Another round of indoor track meets were ran Thursday at the indoor track at Central College in Pella.

The Fairfield and Pekin girls? track teams both competed against regional foes. The Trojans were able to nab second in the shuttle relay and fourth in both the shuttle hurdle and 4x800 races. Fairfield senior Marisa Repp had top five finishes in the 55 hurdles, high jump and as a member of the distance medley team.

The Pekin girls? 4x800 team placed second behind a strong showing from Davis County. Mallory Reed earned second place in the 55 hurdles and Shelbie Williams grabbed second place in the shot put.

Boys teams were there to race as well, and the Panther boys? squad continued its mission to gradually improve.

?Indoor meets gives us a chance to run all sorts of combinations so we can get meet experience,? Pekin boys? track coach Davis Eidahl said. ?This is more important to us at this point, rather than putting pressure on them [to win].?
