FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield volleyball team continued to get better as the night went on during a non-conference clash with Albia on Thursday night.
The Trojans had a tough first set, but dominated the next three to beat Albia in four sets, taking a non-conference clash 15-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-13.
Lilly Bergren and Addison Ferrel each had nine kills in the win. Rowan Terrell finished with seven kills, and Briana Steele added six.
Maddie Jones dished out 35 assists for the Trojans. Bergren led the team in digs, with 14. Savannah Hollander finished the night with 11 digs, and Isabel McCready ended the night with 10 digs.
The win helped the Trojans get some revenge for a tournament loss to the Blue Demons earlier this year. Albia faced Fairfield in a weekend tournament on Sept. 16, and Albia came out on top 21-16, 21-15.
Fairfield has now won five matches in a row. The Trojans finished the regular season 19-11 overall and 8-1 in Southeast Conference matches.
The Trojans will now turn their sites toward the Class 3A Region 8 tournament opener on Tuesday night. Fairfield will take on Davis County (12-22), with the winner facing either top-seeded Assumption or Washington in the semifinals.
