Fairfield seventh-, eighth-grade girls run Thursday
OTTUMWA ? The Fairfield seventh- and eighth-grade girls? track teams competed at the Ottumwa Invitational Thursday.
The seventh-grade Trojans won with 159 points and the eighth-grade team finished in third with 79.
Once again, the seventh-grade team was in charge with wins in 13 events.

OTTUMWA ? The Fairfield seventh- and eighth-grade girls? track teams competed at the Ottumwa Invitational Thursday.
The seventh-grade Trojans won with 159 points and the eighth-grade team finished in third with 79.
Once again, the seventh-grade team was in charge with wins in 13 events.
Kenady Waugh was the individual champion in an astounding four events, including the 100-meter dash (13.41), 200-dash (27.8) , 400-dash (63.6) and long jump (14? 3?). Jada Lippincott won the shot put (26? 11?), Sam Fritz was the 1,500-meter champion (5:25), Olivia Hammel won the discus (72? 10?) and Kailey Kaska placed first in the high jump (4? 2?).
The Trojans won five relays, including the 4x800, sprint medley, distance medley, 4x100 and 4x400. Kaylee Watson was on three of the winning relays. Kylie Kurtz, Corynn Klehm, Brynna Bowman and Sam Fritz were on two winning relays apiece.
Runner-up finishes for the seventh-grade team included Brooke McLain in the 100-meter hurdles (18.85), Jenna Crile in the high jump (4?) and Kylie Kurtz in the 800-meter run (2:49).
In the seventh-grade team race, Mount Pleasant placed second behind Fairfield with 90 points and Ottumwa was third with 79. Washington scored 111 points in the eighth-grade division to edge Mount Pleasant?s 106.
The Trojan eighth-graders were the winners of one event and placed runner-up in four.
Sierra Vogt was the lone champion, throwing 74-feet, 8-inches in the discus. Second-place finishes came from Abby Melcher in the 400 (67.7) and 800 (2:53), Taylor Ferrel in the 1,500 (5:35), and the sprint medley relay (2:10) featuring Ferrel, Mackenzie Harwood, Allie Deao and Brittany Hoskins.
Monday, both the seventh- and eighth-grade teams will run at the conference meet in Burlington.
