FAIRFIELD — It was all Fairfield when the Trojans hosted Mt. Pleasant in a boys soccer rivalry game on Monday. The Trojans rolled from start to finish in a 6-0 Southeast Conference victory.
A flurry of Fairfield goals turned the game into the Trojans’ corner fast. The Trojans were up 4-0 in the first 20 minutes, getting a pair of goals from Tate Allen, one from Jaxen Allen and one from Andrew Titze.
Fairfield had one more in them before the break. Titze’s second goal of the day gave the Trojans a commanding 5-0 break before halftime.
“We've been putting in the work in practice,” said Fairfield head coach Felisto Guezimane. “It's finally nice to see those passing patterns that we've been working on come to fruition.”
Mt. Pleasant played Fairfield more evenly in the second half, but the Trojans were able to get one more into the net. Jaxen Allen scored his second goal of the day with just under 20 minutes left.
“We were just connecting passes, getting through balls and scoring,” Allen said. “We just kept our intensity up.”
The game was a bit of a set back for the Panthers, who had just upset Burlington four days prior.
“The credit goes to Fairfield for coming out firing on all cylinders right out of the gate,” said Mt. Pleasant head coach Rocco Russo. “They played a really nice game of soccer.”
Mt. Pleasant’s Axel Noriega Ruiz led the team with four shots on goal in the loss. Goalkeeper Rudy Ruiz Motta had 12 saves.
Fairfield goalkeeper Mikael Anderson made a handful of saves in his second shut out performance of the year.
Both the Trojans and Panthers are now 2-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
