For Fairfield soccer, Thursday night’s pair of Southeast Conference bouts with Washington ended up being winners.
All it took was one first half goal for the Trojans girls to secure the win, while the boys stormed back in the second half to down their SEC foes 3-2.
In the girls’ game the Trojans and Demons went back and forth until Fairfield’s Emma Metcalf broke the seal.
Metcalf’s first half strike proved to be the game winner as Washington could never find a break through, despite putting 14 shots on target.
The Trojans’ Johana Mora ended with 14 saves.
For Washington, Aleigha Medley finished with five saves.
In the boys’ contest, both teams were firing through the first half.
The Demons rattled off a pair of goals in the opening half and took a one goal advantage, 2-1, into the second.
However, Fairfield retaliated in the second. The Trojans put two goals on the board, while keeping the Demons off the board to secure their first conference victory of the season.
Ian Richards led Fairfield with two goals in the win. Binh Truong had a goal himself as well as two assists.
Noah Patel dished out an assist as well. In goal Henry Swan finished with two saves.
