Monday night was a tough outing on the pitch for Fairfield soccer. Both the Trojan boys and girls soccer teams were bested by Southeast Conference foe Fort Madison.
The Trojan girls fell to the Bloodhounds at home, 6-2, while the boys were topped on the road, 5-0.
In the girls matchup, the Trojans fought hard but a big second half by the Bloodhounds was too much.
Fort Madison played taxing defense, but Fairfield was able to take advantage of its chances.
With just nine shots in the contest and five on goal, the Trojans were able to slip two past the Bloodhound keeper. Fairfield’s Lilian Buie and Savannah Hollander scored a goal each.
Kiara Bickham was berated in goal for the Trojans. Bickham finished the day with 17 total saves.
On the boys side, the Trojans struggled with the SEC leaders.
The Bloodhounds attack was firing on all cylinders, scoring three of their five goals in the first half.
Fairfield consistently scrapped on both ends of the ball, but could never find the back of the net. The Bloodhounds goalkeeper Reiburn Turnbull was tested just two times, making just two saves.
Fort Madison took a total of 30 shots on the day, with 14 on goal.
