FAIRFIELD — Neither Fairfield soccer team could put a ball into the net when the Trojans faced off with Fort Madison in Southeast Conference play on Monday evening.
In Fairfield, the Trojan girls fell to the first-place Bloodhounds, 3-0. In Fort Madison, the Trojan boys were knocked off, 4-0.
The Trojan girls came into the game having been outscored 38-0 in the last four contests against Fort Madison, but Fairfield made the Bloodhounds work for everything they got.
The Trojans were down just 1-0 at halftime, putting a little scare into the Hounds before Fort Madison scored two goals in the second half.
Emma Metcalf had four shots in the game, three on goal, to lead the Trojan offense. Haleigh Strickland got two shots off and sent one on net. In the goal, keeper Johana Mora saved eight shots.
The Trojan boys were down just 2-0 at halftime, but gave up two more in the second half.
Bihn Truong had three shots on the day, one on net. Ian Richards, Lane Stever and Oliver Siemsen all had one shot on goal.
In the net, freshman keeper Henry Swan saved four shots for Fairfield.
The Trojans are now 1-2 on the girls’ side and 1-3 on the boys’ side. Both Fairfield soccer teams are 0-2 in Southeast Conference play.
