Fairfield softball doubles up Keokuk

KEOKUK — Fairfield made the trip to Keokuk worth it in Tuesday night’s Southeast Conference makeup softball game. The Trojans reached double-digit runs in a blowout win, taking it 14-7.
Fairfield trailed 1-0 after the first frame, but the Trojans put up two in the second and batted around to score eight in the third to take a commanding 10-1 lead. Keokuk never recovered.
Emersyn Manley went 3-for-5 with three RBIs at the plate. Jenna Norris went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Coty Engle was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Hannah Simpson was 3-for-5 with a solo home run. Danielle Breen knocked in two runs, and Delaney Breen knocked in one.
Keokuk’s offense had a relatively good night against Engle, scoring seven runs over seven innings. Engle did strike out 10 Chiefs.
Fairfield is now 24-8 overall and 13-4 in Southeast Conference play. The Trojans will host Mt. Pleasant (3-22, 1-17) on Thursday night.
