Fairfield softball earns No. 3 spot by IGHSAU
Trojans return all but 3 graduated seniors from state qualifying team

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released its preseason softball rankings for the 2021 season.
Fairfield is ranked third in Class 4A behind West Delaware at No. 2. Both lost in the first round of the 2020 state tourney. Defending champion Winterset is ranked first. Southeast Conference member Burlington is No. 14.
The Trojans lost three seniors from last year: pitcher Allison Rebling, shortstop Shaylin Drish and second baseman Destiny Gridley.
South Iowa Cedar League members Lynnville-Sully and Sigourney are ranked in 1A. Super Conference member Louisa-Muscatine has the top spot in 2A and WB/ND is fourth in 3A.
There are six River Valley Conference teams ranked, four in 2A (Wilton, Durant, Northeast, Regina) and two in 3A (West Liberty, Anamosa).
