KEOKUK — Fairfield softball saw victory and defeat Monday night on the road in Keokuk.
The Trojans picked up a 15-8 win over the Chiefs in the first of their doubleheader, but later lost the second 10-9.
In game one, the Trojans scored five runs through the first two innings, but the Chiefs stayed right on their heels, scoring four of their own.
Fairfield followed with four additional runs in the third and two more in the fourth to take a commanding lead, 11-4. Keokuk could never make up the difference.
The two squads tied the rest of the way out, scoring four runs each.
Laney Norris finished with four hits in the win along with four RBIs. Faith Jones had three hits and two RBIs as well.
In game two, the Trojans held a 6-5 lead after four innings. Fairfield extended that lead with a run in the fifth, but a five-run sixth frame by Keokuk was enough to slip by.
Faith Jones and Olivia Hollander each had three hits for the Trojans. Hollander also had three RBIs.
Fairfield drops to 9-19 with the split.
