Fairfield softball team swept on road
Fort Madison offense too much for Trojans

FORT MADISON — The Fairfield softball team dropped two games in Fort Madison on Tuesday night. The Trojans fell 16-2 in Game 2, and 14-1 in Game 2.
Fort Madison scored 16 runs in the first two innings of Game 1. Startingp pitcher Laney Norris gave up 16 total runs, but only five of them were earned.
Leah Helmick was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Lilly Bergren went 1-for-1 with a double, and Norris went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Fairfield offense couldn’t get much going in Game 2. Helmick collected two hits and Faith Jones had a triple and an RBI, but the Trojans had just five hits in the game.
Helmick pitched in Game 2. She gave up 14 runs (11 earned) over 5.1 innings.
