Fairfield falls to Solon football team

SOLON — Fairfield lost its second football game of the season Friday when it traveled to face the Spartans of Solon.
The Class 3A District 5 game was all Solon, 56-7. The Spartans scored three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to lead 42-0 at halftime. The third quarter was scoreless, but the fourth quarter was 14-7 for the home team.
Max Weaton caught a touchdown pass from Tate Allen for the Trojans only end zone visit. He caught two other passes and Tate Richardson caught a pair as well. Allen finished 5-of-18 passing. Hunter Cecchini and Teddy Metcalf combined for 11 carries and 18 yards.
Solon took less than two minutes to score on its first possession and tallied touchdowns on five consecutive possessions to end the first half.
After each Solon scoring drive came a three-and-out and a punt for Fairfield. Seven Trojans possessions in the first half totaled 10 yards.
Fairfield’s overall record is 5-2 and 2-1 in the district. The Trojans now prepare for a visit from Washington (2-5, 1-2). The Demons defeated Keokuk 45-6 Friday. The Trojans downed Keokuk in the district opener 38-13.
