Fairfield sweeps WACO quad
Quartet of area teams battle at Wayland

WAYLAND — Four Union area teams were at the WACO quad on Thursday, as the Warriors welcomed in Fairfield, Cardinal and New London in non-conference action.
It was the Trojans that came away with the best night, going 3-0 against the are teams. Fairfield didn’t lose a set during the entire night.
The Trojans knocked off New London 25-13 and 25-11 in their first match of the day. They would move on to take out hosting WACO 25-12, 25-16, and end the day with a victory over Cardinal, winning 25-21, 25-13.
Over the three wins, Lilly Bergren collected 17 kills to lead the team. This included seven kills each against both WACO and Cardinal.
WACO beat Cardinal and New London to take second place in the round robin tournament. The Warriors defeated Cardinal 25-13 and 25-16, and took down New London in a three-set thriller, prevailing 25-18, 21-25 and 15-10.
New London had one win on the day. The Tigers beat Cardinal 25-9 and 25-22.
