MUSCATINE ? The Fairfield swim team finished third out of six teams at the Muscatine Invite Saturday.
The Trojans scored 243 points while the host Muskies won the event with 429 and Williamsburg scored 287.
Jaci Bell won the first of three events on the day for Fairfield with a first-place finish in diving. To edge out her Tipton opponent, Bell completed a back sommersault with a 1.5 twist for a difficulty score of 2.3 that made the difference.
Freshman Baylee Bowman registered the other two victories for the Trojans with wins in the 100-backstroke (1:05.34) and 200-IM (2:26.85). Both times were season bests for Bowman following last week?s dual meet at Ottumwa.
Fellow freshman Jade Greiner was second in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:06.89.
Two Fairfield relays picked up second-place finishes including the 200-medley combination of Bowman, Abby McMahon, Jade Greiner and Rachel Swanson (1:58.97) and the 400-freestyle team of Olivia Hunt, Greiner, Bowman and McMahon (4:08.08).
A host of other Trojans dropped times including McMahon in a third place finish in the 100-breaststroke stopping the clock at 1:14.19.
Next up for Fairfield will be a trip to the West Des Moines Dowling Invite next Saturday.
