Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant girls tennis met for the third time this season Friday afternoon with the two competing in the Class 1A Region 1 girls’ tennis regional round.
The Trojans put together dominant performances in each of the previous meetings and in the postseason opener they did it once again.
Fairfield delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Mt. Pleasant in just five matches.
With the victory, Fairfield advances to the regional finals, continuing its pursuit of a state tournament berth.
The Trojans will take on Central DeWitt in the next round. The winner of that will square off with either Xavier or Camanche for a chance at becoming regional champion.
In other girls’ tennis action, Maharishi fell to Albia 5-2.
