Fairfield tennis sweeps Keokuk
Trojan boys sweep, girls win by 1 in SEC matches

The Fairfield tennis teams took on Keokuk in Southeast Conference play on Thursday, and both ended the day for a victory.
The Trojan boys swept the Chiefs 9-0, and that included two 6-0, 6-0 skunkings. No. 2 Jace Hannes and No. 5 Rylan Anderson recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.
No. 1 Garrett Flanagan lost just one set, taking his match 6-1, 6-0. Dil Hurlin won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 game. No. 4 Ethan Cass won 6-2, 6-0, and No. 6 Niko Emerson was victorious, 6-1, 6-1.
The Fairfield boys’ doubles teams turned in dominant performances. The No. 1 group of Flanagan and Hannes won 10-1. Hurlin and Emerson took the No. 2 match 10-3, and Cass and Anderson won the No. 3 match 10-1.
The Fairfield girls had a much tougher time. In fact, after the singles portion, the two teams were knotted up at 3-3.
Madison Greiner’s 8-2 win in the No. 2 singles match was Fairfield’s best performance of the night. Emma Wendland took the No. 3 match 8-4, and Giteeka Adhikari won the No. 4 match 8-3.
No. 1 Sydney Wells fell 8-5. Una Carter dropped a tough No. 5 match 9-7, and Lola Hatchette fell 8-3 in the No. 6 match.
Fairfield needed two wins in doubles to pull out the victory, and that’s just what they did. The No. 1 team of Wells and Greiner won 8-5, and the No. 2 squad of Wendland and Adhikari prevailed 8-3.
The Trojans had one loss in doubles, as Carter and Hatchette fell 8-3 in the No. 3 match.
