Fairfield tennis topped by Burlington
Trojans come up one set short to Grayhounds

BURLINGTON — The Fairfield boys’ tennis team played some good ball on Thursday afternoon against Burlington.
Both the Trojans and Grayhounds played some competitive tennis, but in the end it was the Grayhounds slipping past the Trojans 5-4.
Garrett Flanagan led the Trojans to a 2-0 victory in the No. 1 single match. Flanagan downed Hunter Ford 7-6 (7-2) and 6-2.
Jace Hannes went up against Carson Ziegler. Hannes fell in the matchup 1-1, 6-4, 2-6 (4-10).
Dil Hurlin came up short in the No. 3 match to Shaye Stringer 7-5 and 6-4.
Ethan Cass was topped in a battle with Thomas Fell. Cass was bested 6-4 and 2-6 (10-5).
In the No. 5 match, Rylan Anderson was topped 6-4 in each of his matches.
Niko Emerson lost a tough one to William Woodard 8-7 (7-5).
In doubles, Flanagan and Hannes swept Ford and Fell 6-0 in each of the two sets.
Hurlin and Emerson were topped by Ziegler and Stringer 8-2.
The duo of Cass and Anderson were winners, 8-5, over Jacob Widmer and William Woodward.
Fairfield, now 1-2, will play host to Mt. Pleasant, 3-0, on Monday.
