Fairfield volleyball goes 1-3 at Ottumwa tournament
Mt. Pleasant, Washington both end the day winless

OTTUMWA — It was a tough day for the Union area schools at the Ottumwa volleyball tournament on Saturday. Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and Washington were in attendance, but the three schools combined for just one win.
Fairfield had the best day of the three squads, going 1-3. The Trojans picked up a victory over Southeast Conference rival Burlington, beating the Grayhounds in two sets, 25-17 and 25-20.
The Trojans had a six-kill game out of junior twins Maggie and Macy Rayburn in the victory. Maddie Jones dished out 16 assists, and Sydney Wells finished with three service aces.
Fairfield was swept three times in the tournament. Ottumwa beat the Trojans 25-23, 25-21. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont bumped Fairfield 21-13, 23-21, and Albia defeated the Trojans 25-21, 25-21.
Mt. Pleasant was downed in two sets by Davis County, falling 21-12, 21-13. The Panthers also lost a three-set match to EBF, falling 23-25, 25-9, 15-9.
Washington lost all four sets played. Davis County beat the Demons 21-10 and 21-17, and Albia pulled out a win over Washington, taking sets 25-19, 27-25.
