Fairfield volleyball knocked out of regional tournament
Trojans eliminated in straight sets by No. 6 Oskaloosa

OSKALOOSA — The Fairfield volleyball team had quite the challenge in front of them on Thursday night. Just two days after defeating Mt. Pleasant in the Class 4A Region 3 opener, the Trojans failed to pull off the upset of No. 6 Oskaloosa in the semifinals.
The Indians controlled the game from the opening point and cruised to a three set win, knocking the Trojans out 25-4, 25-13, 25-8.
Maggie Rayburn led the Trojan hitters with three kills. Macy Rayburn and Anna Dunlap finished with two apiece. Macy had two assists on the day, as did Mallory Lyon.
Kiya Robertson and Maddie Jones co-led the defense with seven digs apiece. The Trojans went without any service aces.
Fairfield’s 2021 volleyball season ended with a 13-20 record. Oskaloosa (30-4) hosts Pella (29-9) in the regional final on Tuesday.
