Fairfield, Washington, Mt. Pleasant wrestling compete in Southern Iowa Classic

Trojans lead Union area, followed by Washington, Mt. Pleasant

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield, Washington and Mt. Pleasant wrestling all competed in the Southern Iowa Classic hosted by Fairfield on Saturday.

The trio were three of 10 teams in the field. Fairfield was the highest area finisher, taking second with 152 points. Washington tied for third with PCM with 137 points and Mt. Pleasant placed ninth with 66 points.

Fort Madison were the tournament champions with 179.5 points.

Fairfield put together a very nice performance at home. The Trojans had no tournament winners, but finished with four second-place finishers.

Logan Johnson (285), Dre Smithburg (215), Cason Miller (157) and Cael McCabe (106) all placed second.

At 144, Zandrik Allison placed third as well as Dain Burkhart at 175.

Carter Moore (190), Calvin McClaine (165), Aiden Westercamp (138) and Hayden Bowman (120) placed fourth.

Rounding out the Trojans tournament was Ajay Klett (126) and Elijah Simons (150) who both placed eighth.

Washington put together a fantastic tournament as well. The Demons finished the day with three tournament champions.

Aaron Boone (132), Chase Greiner (165) and Caden Greiner (138) all notched titles.

Nate Edmonds (113) and Bryer Billingsly (144) each placed fourth. Blaine Rees was fourth as well at 175. Joseph Schreiber took sixth at 106 too.

Lane Schrock (150), Braylon Hamilton (190), Greyson Hartman (215) and Rudy Wolfe (285) each finished fifth.

For Mt. Pleasant, Will Birdsell (215) and Charlie Bohnenkamp (132) were the highest finishers, placing fourth.

Landon Beckler (106), Sawyer Fulton (113) and Jefferson Ramirez Avalos (138) placed fifth.

Payton Walker (190), Ramzy Davis (150) and Lane Beckler (126) each took sixth.

Other finishers for the Panthers were Jaxsen Stuecker and Keegan Birdsell, who both ended in seventh at 165 and 144 respectively.
