OSKALOOSA — The Fairfield boys and girls soccer teams had their season ended last week at Oskaloosa in the first round of playoff action.
The girls lost a heartbreaker in extra time, 2-1, while the boys were downed 3-0.
Before the matchup with the Indians on Friday, the Trojan girls had just gotten their first win of the season with a victory over Oskaloosa, 3-1.
The Trojans were hoping to repeat that outcome.
It was anyone’s game and the Trojans had their chances.
At the end of the first half, the game was all knotted up at 1-1. Fairfield’s Delaney Breen got the Trojans on the board.
In the second, neither team could find the goal needed to prevail and advance.
In the first extra time period, it was the Indians who got the goal needed, with Audrey Cheney scoring her second of the game to knock the Trojans out of the playoffs.
Along with Breen’s one goal, Savannah Hollander had one assist and Kiara Bickham had 10 saves in goal.
The girls end their season with a 1-14 record.
On the boys side of things, the Trojans couldn’t find a way into the back of the net.
Throughout the first half, it was neck and neck. Fairfield held Oskaloosa to only one goal over the course of the first.
In the second, the scoring woes continued for the Trojans. The Indians didn’t have that problem.
Oskaloosa added a pair of goals to put the game out of reach, while completing the shutout.
The loss marks the end of the season for Fairfield. They end the season with a final record of 5-9.
