FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Bihn Truong signed his letter of intent last week to attend and play men’s soccer at Upper Iowa University.
Truong, who is in the middle of his final spring sports season, made his attention known on Thursday in the Fairfield High School gym lobby.
“For me, I was looking at a tight-nit community,” said Truong. “Upper Iowa just has everything I need to grow as an athlete, and as a student.”
Upper Iowa is coming off a 2-12-3 season last fall. The Peacocks play in NCAA Division II’s Great Lakes Valley Conference.
“They’re the only Division II school, so it will be very competitive for me,” said Truong. “I always love a competitive environment.”
Truong plans on studying Finance and Accounting at Upper Iowa, but first he has to finish his senior year with the Trojans. Fairfield is currently 2-3-1 on the young season.
“It definitely helped me realize that I could take it to the next level,” Truong said about playing for the Trojans. “Fairfield has coaches that helps me build connections, and it’s an environment that has helped me stand out as a player.“
