Trojan golf picks up team victory at home invite
Mt. Pleasant’s Matheney takes medalist honors

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield put together some of its best golf Monday at its home Fairfield Boys Golf Invite.
When all was said and done, the Trojans topped the seven team field with the lowest score of the day.
Fairfield finished atop the leaderboards with a 18 hole low of 322.
Mt. Pleasant brought home some hardware as well, as they took the individual medalist honor in the form of Nick Matheney.
Matheney finished his 18 hole day with a competition low of 74.
Mt. Pleasant was also the next highest area squad, finishing fifth with 360.
Van Buren County followed in sixth with a low of 381.
Albia, New Hampton, Centerville and Keokuk all competed as well.
Leading the Trojans on the day was Max Weaton. The Trojan senior finished with a 76 in the meet.
Sam Weaton followed his brother with an 80 in the invitational. Dave Eisner carded an 81 after 18 holes of action.
Nile Christensen shot an 85 in the meet. Austin Lisk finished with an 88 and Landon Nodurft ended with a 91.
Van Buren County was led by Aidan McEntee with a low of 88. Dylan Richardson followed with an 89. T.J. Jirak shot a 94.
Jerrod Griffin finished with 110 and Ethan Pforts tallied a 116.
