FHS girls endure Mid-Prairie

WELLMAN ? After not getting to run Tuesday night thanks to rain, the Fairfield girls? track and field team had a tough night in a crowded field at the Mid-Prairie Hawk Co-Ed Thursday evening.

Weather cooperated for the most part, but the Trojans came away winning just two events. Sydney Howard won the 100-meter dash (12.65) and Marisa Repp, Huma Liptak, Hanna Greiner and Jessica Lamb teamed up to win the 1600 medley relay in 4:39.52.

Columbus? Heaven Chandler, the only runner to beat Howard in the 100-meter dash this year, was at the meet but not entered in the event. Chandler did win the 200 while Howard fell to third with a time of 27.19.

Howard also helped the Trojans to runner up in the 4x100 relay as she crossed the finish line in 54.32. Edna Jones, Katelynn Frick and Sydney Burnett led off the relay.

Next up for Fairfield is a trip to Keokuk Tuesday.
