KEOKUK ? The Fairfield girls? track and field team was without its top point scorer and felt the affects at the Keosippi Relays Tuesday night in Keokuk.
The Trojans finished fourth out of six teams in the final standings ? falling behind Southeast Conference opponents Mount Pleasant and the host Chiefs.
Sophomore sprinter Sydney Howard was unavailable for Fairfield as she gets set for a big weekend at the Drake Relays.
However, Sidney Baumann picked up the slack in the field events along with a solid group of young runners on the track. Baumann won the discus event with a throw of 102-feet, 8-inches to tally the Trojans? lone victory of the evening.
Fellow sophomore Jessica Lamb was second in the open 800 with a solid time of 2:30.86 and also helped three relay teams to runner-up results. The 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 all ran second with Lamb on the second leg.
Huma Liptak, Hannah Sobaski and Sesali Martin filled out the 4x800 that finished in 10:46, Edna Jones, Liptak and Hanna Greiner ran the 4x200 (1:55.18) and Liptak, Sobaski and Marisa Repp joined the 4x400 team (4:25.36).
Repp added one more second-place finish in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:14.18.
