Fifth-ranked Panthers post shutout over Iowa Mennonite
KALONA ? The Pekin softball team, after a big win at Columbus Monday, continued its tear through the SEI Superconference North Division with a 9-0 win over Iowa Mennonite Tuesday.
The Panthers, ranked fifth, stand 15-1 in the North Division, and are in line to win its first division title.

KALONA ? The Pekin softball team, after a big win at Columbus Monday, continued its tear through the SEI Superconference North Division with a 9-0 win over Iowa Mennonite Tuesday.
The Panthers, ranked fifth, stand 15-1 in the North Division, and are in line to win its first division title.
Pekin pounded 13 hits off IMS hurler Kara Stoltzfus, and were led by Megan Raap and Ashley Wagamon, who collected three hits apiece.
?We just came out swinging and we were aggressive,? said Pekin coach Bryan Marlay. ?We had real good defense and pitching.?
Allison Brown struck out 11 for the Panthers, and the senior figures to record her 1,500th strikeout sometime during the doubleheader with Danville and Sigourney Friday at Pekin.
Brown drove in two runs during Tuesday?s contest, and she scored two runs. Wagamon also scored twice, while Amber Millikin, Bridget Hollingsworth, Kathy Jacobs, Sarah Adkins and Raap also scored.
Lisa Nye was 2-for-3 for IMS, collecting a pair of singles in the setback.
Pekin stands 26-3 on the season.
