WAYLAND - The WACO boys hung with Holy Trinity Catholic for three out of the four quarters played on Tuesday night when they played a Super Conference South Division game, but a 29-9 Crusader run in the second quarter spelled the difference in a 73-49 HTC win over WACO.
HTC took a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and won the second quarter with the aforementioned run to take a commanding 42-16 lead into the second half. WACO had a great third period with a 21-10 advantage and cut the lead to just 15 points, at 52-37. The Warriors didn't have enough gas for a fourth-quarter run to get back within reach of the lead.
Simeon Reichenbach's 10 points led the way for WACO. Isaac Oswald had eight points and four assists. Vincent Jones tallied eight points.
Will Edeker scored five points and pulled down a WACO-high eight rebounds. Hunter Hughes had five points. Drew Diers and Reece Oswalt scored four points apiece. Taylor Sutton finished with three points, and the duo of Cody Graber and Tyler Sutton each scored one.
