FMS football team ends season on high note
The Fairfield eighth-grade football team concluded the season Thursday with a win at home vs. Burlington?s Aldo Leopold.

The ?A?-teamers racked up 337 yards rushing to claim a 44-6 victory, while the Trojan ?B? team dropped an 8-6 game against most of Aldo Leopold?s ?A? squad in one half of play.
Rushing leaders in the ?A? game were Michael Fritz with 107 yards and a touchdown and Tony Zapata, who amassed 99 yards and one touchdown. Cameron Baumann tacked on 68 yards and two scores on four carries, while Brayden Miller gained 63 yards on a pair of rushing attempts.
Baumann also passed for 32 yards, with one touchdown going to Denver Schultz, who finished with two catches for 19 yards. Brandon Smithburg made a 12-yard grab.
?A? team tackle leaders were Zapata with eight and Baumann with seven. Fritz made six stops, Osby had four and Jose Rojo came up with three tackles.
Miller was again hard to tackle in the ?B? game, gaining 78 yards on just three carries.
Mitchell Taglauer and James Bechtel led the ?B? team defense with four and three tackles, respectively.
