FMS netters play Mount Pleasant
Fairfield Middle School?s eighth-grade volleyball team defended its court well with an eight-game sweep of Mount Pleasant on Thursday.
Fairfield?s ?A? team won 21-9, 21-18. Kenady Waugh and Haley Beard had five aces apiece. Natalie Angstead finished with two assists and a kill. Waugh and Brynna Bowman tacked on one kill each.

Fairfield Middle School?s eighth-grade volleyball team defended its court well with an eight-game sweep of Mount Pleasant on Thursday.
Fairfield?s ?A? team won 21-9, 21-18. Kenady Waugh and Haley Beard had five aces apiece. Natalie Angstead finished with two assists and a kill. Waugh and Brynna Bowman tacked on one kill each.
Jada Lippincott served up six aces and slammed two kills to steer the ?B? team to a 21-17, 21-19 victory. Shelby Heston had 15 passes and one kill. Anuja Pharasi had two assists, while Sarah Swanson finished with one kill.
In the ?C? contest, the Trojans won 21-11, 21-10. Olivia Hammel finished with 17 aces and a pair of assists, Emmy Bowman had two kills and Caytlyn Nystrom contributed a kill.
The Trojan ?D? team topped Mount Pleasant 21-16, 21-15. Lauren Ward fired off 17 aces from behind the service line, and Emmy Bowman and Chloe McClaran each had one kill from the net.
The Trojans conclude the season with a home game against Ottumwa on Monday and an away game vs. Washington Thursday.
Seventh-graders hit the road
MOUNT PLEASANT ? The seventh-grade volleyball team traveled to Mount Pleasant for a four-match contest Thursday.
Fairfield?s ?A? team lost a close three-set match by scores of 18-21, 21-18 and 8-15. Kristen Daugherty paced the Trojans with 10 ace serves, and Ashtyn Drish had seven attacks.
The Trojans bounced back with a 21-17, 21-14 win in the ?B? game. Kristin Burnstedt hammered four attacks and Drish delivered 11 aces.
The Fairfield ?C? team split a 13-21, 21-13 contest. Claire Christensen finished with five aces, and Cami Schaefer led the Trojans on defense.
The ?D? team also split with Mount Pleasant 21-18, 17-21. Taylor Blomme had 13 aces and Anna Beasley showed off her defensive skills.
The seventh-graders travel to Ottumwa on Monday before concluding the season at home Thursday vs. Washington.
