FMS volleyball solid vs. Ottumwa
The Fairfield seventh-grade volleyball team took three of four matches from Ottumwa last Thursday in Fairfield.
The Trojan ?A? team lost in three games (12-21, 21-18, 9-15) while the ?B? team won in three (17-21, 21-16, 15-4). Kristen Daugherty led the ?A? team with 12 serves, and Taylor Myers executed two kills in the ?B? game.

The Trojan ?A? team lost in three games (12-21, 21-18, 9-15) while the ?B? team won in three (17-21, 21-16, 15-4). Kristen Daugherty led the ?A? team with 12 serves, and Taylor Myers executed two kills in the ?B? game.
Both the ?C? and ?D? teams won in straight sets. Shanti Williams had two kills and the ?C? team won 21-11 and 21-19, and Shania Storto?s eight serves led the ?D? team to a 21-14, 21-15 victory.
Eighth-graders win three of four matches
Fairfield?s eighth-graders faced Ottumwa on the road in volleyball action Thursday.
The ?A? team lost a pair of close games by scores of 19-21 and 18-21. Paige Buch had 23 passes and two kills, Kaylee Watson distributed 23 passes and Kenady Waugh had 20 passes.
In the ?B? contest, Fairfield won 21-12, 21-9. The Trojans were led by Brooke McLain, who finished with 10 aces and six assists.
The ?C? team tied with scores of 23-21 and 17-21. Nichelle Blakeney tallied six aces on 10 serves to lead the way. Sarah Swanson had 26 passes and Olivia Hammel slammed five kills.
Katherine Hull blasted 13 aces and Fairfield dropped Ottumwa in the ?D? game 21-5, 21-11. Lauren Ward tacked on two kills.
