FMS volleyball teams play Aldo Leopold

BURLINGTON ? The Fairfield Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team was back in action Monday in Burlington against Aldo Leopold.
Ashtyn Drish put down four kills and six good serves to lead the Trojan ?A? team to a 21-8, 21-10 victory. Sophie Allen had several great passes and 12 good serves.
The Trojans lost the ?B? game 21-11, 21-17. Kristin Burnstedt led the way with nine good serves, while Macy Holderbaum backed her up with five good serves.
Amanda Carminhato served up five aces and Peyton Manley totaled four aces to help Fairfield edge Aldo Leopold 21-19, 22-20 in the ?C? contest.
The seventh-grade ?D? team split a pair of games with scores of 15-12 and 11-15. Allison Krumboltz led the Trojans from behind the service line, and Anna Beasley contributed with tough defensive passing.
The seventh-graders are set to host Keokuk today.
Eighth-graders host Aldo Leopold
The Trojan eighth-grade volleyball team won two of four matches as well as a split Monday against Burlington?s Aldo Leopold in Fairfield.
Fairfield?s ?A? team narrowly edged Aldo Leopold in three games with a final score of 21-12, 15-21, 15-13. Kenady Waugh smoked eight aces on 14 serve attempts, and Brynna Bowman tallied six aces. Paige Buch had 22 passes.
Shelby Heston?s six aces and one kill led the Trojan ?B? team to a 14-21, 21-17 split. Nichelle Blakeney and Anuja Pharasi also had one kill each for Fairfield.
The Trojans won 21-10, 21-14 for a sweep in the ?C? contest. Blakeney tallied seven aces, and Olivia Hammel had eight aces in 10 total serves.
The ?D? team lost in two games by scores of 15-21 and 21-23. Emmy Bowman totaled seven passes, and Lauren Ward had seven ace serves.
The Trojans will be at Keokuk today.
