Football: Columbus plays for district title
Winfield-Mt. Union looks to earn a playoff spot

Alburnett (6-1, 4-0) at Columbus (7-0, 5-0)
A district title is on the line in this one. Columbus has yet to be stopped this season, while Alburnett has just one blemish on its record and has topped some big time opponents.
Kaden Amigon has rushed for 1,266 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season for Columbus. Triston Miller follows with 716 yards and 11 touchdowns. Riley Kaalberg has rushes 13 times for 245 yards and six touchdowns as well. Cole Storm has 186 yards and five touchdowns.
For Alburnett, Mason Neighbors has 1,411 yards and 19 touchdowns from the quarterback position. Carson Klostermann has 516 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns. Grayson Carolan has 22 receptions for 548 yards and Braydon Osborn has caught 27 passes for 396 yards.
No. 2 WACO (8-0, 6-0) at Tri-County (1-6, 1-6)
WACO will look to stay perfect against Tri-Country Friday.
Isaac Oswald has thrown for 1,088 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Warriors. Simeon Reichenbach has rushed for 905 yards and 19 touchdowns. Oleh Shtefanchuk leads in receiving with 13 receptions for 326 yards and eight touchdowns.
Eli Molyneux leads Tri-County with 806 passing yards and eight touchdowns. Molyneux has a team-best 467 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground as well. Levi Molyneux has 334 yards and four touchdowns receiving for the Trojans as well.
New London (5-3, 5-1) at HLV (1-6, 1-5)
New London will look to keep rolling with a victory over HLV on Friday night.
The Tigers have clinched up the No. 2 spot in the district and hope to end the regular season strong.
Dom Lopez leads the Tigers under center. Lopez has thrown for 813 yards and 14 touchdowns. Boden Pickle is the Tigers rushing leader with 642 yards and nine touchdowns. Blaise Porter has 19 receptions for 358 yards and five touchdowns to lead the New London receivers.
Kyler Gorsh has 540 passing yards and three touchdowns for HLV. Brody Sternhagen leads in rushing with 626 yards and nine scores. In the receiving column, Max Henstorf has 273 yards and two touchdowns.
English Valleys (2-5, 2-4) at Winfield-Mt. Union (5-3, 3-3)
WMU is currently the first team in to the playoffs out of the pool of teams that are not at the top of their district.
The Wolves must win Friday nights game by 17 or more to earn a spot in the playoffs.
Cole Milks leads the Wolves with 691 yards and 11 touchdowns at quarterback. Cam Buffington has 1,013 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. Abram Edwards has 305 receiving yards and four scores as well.
English Valleys is led by Josh Osborn with 602 yards and four scores. Treyton Shaw has 962 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. Myles Grove leads the Bears in receiving with 282 yards and three touchdowns.
Highland (0-7, 0-5) at Pekin (2-5, 1-3)
Highland and Pekin will do battle on Friday night.
The Huskies are still searching for their first win of the season, while Pekin is coming in on a four game slide.
For Highland, Sage Hartley-Norman leads the way through the air and on the ground. He has thrown for 516 yards and five touchdowns. He has also rushed for 424 yards and four touchdowns. Luke Guseman has 220 yards as well.
Ethan Paisley leads in receiving. Paisley has caught 16 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns.
For Pekin, Luke Long has thrown for 364 yards and five touchdowns from the quarterback position. His 371 rush yards and four touchdowns area also a team best. Logan Lauderman follows with 247 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as well.
Will Adam has 149 yards and three touchdowns receiving for the Panthers. Jaedon Wolver follows with 123 yards and two scores.
Pleasantville (3-4, 1-2) at Cardinal (0-7, 0-4)
Cardinal will look for its first win of the season with a senior night matchup with Pleasantville.
The Comets got the better of the Trojans in last years meeting.
Carson Kenney has 280 yards through the air and one touchdown for the Comets. Craig Miller leads with 349 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Through the air, Chase Johnson has 166 yards on 14 catches and one touchdown.
Pleasantville is led by Parker Sheets. Sheets had 951 yards and eight touchdowns with his arm. Dillon Ammons is the Trojans main ball carrier, rushing for 366 yards and five touchdowns. Dayson Leerhoff has 315 yards receiving and three touchdowns for Pleasantville.
Sigourney-Keota (5-2, 4-0) at Van Buren County (3-4, 1-3)
Sigourney-Keota will look to continue its hot streak with a win over Van Buren County, while the Warriors will look to end a two-game losing streak.
Sawyer Stout leads the Cobras with 291 and six touchdowns in the passing department. Cole Clarahan has 862 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on the year. Issac Bruns follows with 429 yards and three touchdowns. Cole Kindred has 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
For Van Buren, Jackson Manning leads the way with 873 yards passing and five touchdowns. Sam Warth has 403 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Anthony Duncan has 28 receptions for 618 yards and four touchdowns.
Davis County (3-4, 1-3) at Mid-Prairie (4-3, 2-2)
Mid-Prairie will be looking to end a two-game slide against Davis County. The Golden Hawks have lost back-to-back games against Williamsburg and Centerville.
Leading the way for Mid-Prairie will be Collin Miller at quarterback. Miller has thrown for 557 yards and six touchdowns on the year.
Braden Hartley has been dominant on the ground for the Golden Hawks. Hartley has rushed for 987 yards and 11 touchdowns. Cain Brown is the lone Golden Hawk with in triple digits for receiving. Brown has 362 yards and four touchdowns.
Carter Will leads the Davis County offense with 812 passing yards and eight touchdowns. Also will has 532 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Tayden Bish has 355 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 17 catches. Dominic Florke has 21 catches for 269 yards and four scores as well.
