Football preview: Teams prepared for final week

Columbus (5-2) vs. Danville (4-3)
Columbus will play host to Danville on Friday night.
The Wildcats come in off a 61-14 victory over Van Buren County last week. The victory marked four straight wins for Columbus.
The meeting between the two squads will be the first since 2016.
Trevor Phillips leads Columbus with 524 yards passing and six touchdowns.
On the ground, Kaden Amigon has 1,258 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Cael Phillips leads Columbus in receiving with 210 yards and one score and Tyson Kaalberg has a team-high 39 tackles.
Cardinal (1-6) vs. Pleasantville (4-3)
Cardinal closes its regular season on Friday night with a district matchup against Pleasantville.
The are currently on a two-game slide after losses to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Pella Christian.
Meanwhile, Pleasantville is ride a two game win streak. The Trojans downed Colfax-Mingo and EBF last week.
Leading Cardinal in passing and rushing is Alec Rachford. Rachford has thrown for 107 yards and rushed for 177. He’s scored once in both categories.
Montana Rupe has eight catches for 40 yards and Isaac Cox has a high of 53 tackles with 11.5 for a loss.
Van Buren County (3-4) at No. 5 Lisbon (7-0)
Van Buren County will look to get back in the win column against a tough Lisbon squad on Friday.
The Warriors have lost two in a row.
Izaak Loeffler leads VBC in passing and rushing. Loeffler currently sits with 956 passing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 405 rushing yards and five scores.
Lucas Fett has reeled in 44 receptions for 498 yards and nine touchdowns.
Kamden Nusbaum has 57.5 tackles for VBC with two fumble recoveries and one interceptions.
Pekin (5-2) vs. Louisa-Muscatine (0-7)
Pekin will look to close out the regular season strong on Friday night against a winless Louisa-Muscatine.
The Panthers are currently on a two win streak after downing Wapello and Highland.
Louisa-Muscatine was defeated by Highland last week, 20-18.
Will Adam has team-highs through the air and on the ground. Adam has 980 yards passing with nine touchdowns and 606 more with 10 scores.
Robert Brown has caught 21 passes for 372 yards and seven scores and Henry Adam has 36.5 tackles with two for a loss and three interceptions.
Highland (1-6) vs. Wapello (1-6)
Either Highland or Wapello with end its season on Friday night with two wins.
Highland is coming off its first victory of the year, a 20-18 win over Louisa-Muscatine, while Wapello has lost four in a row.
The Huskies also will look to end a seven-game losing streak to the Indians.
Sage Hartley-Norman has 463 yards passing and three touchdowns with 398 more yards in the run game with two scores to lead Highland.
Ayden Havel has posted 17 catches with 289 yards and three scores as well.
Logan McFarland leads Highland with 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks and one fumble recovery.
New London (1-6) at English Valleys (2-5)
New London will close out its season with a game against English Valleys.
New London has lost its last two with the most recent being Moravia, while English Valleys has dropped four straight, falling to WACO last week.
Gavin Menke-Bailey leads the Tigers at quarterback and in the run game. He has 291 yards passing with six touchdowns. Menke-Bailey has 406 yards rushing with four scores as well.
Cale Westerbeck has 13 catches for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
Menke-Bailey has 50.5 tackles and 4.5 tackles for a loss.
Mid-Prairie (3-4) vs. Albia (4-3)
Mid-Prairie will be playing for back-to-back win this Friday when it hosts Albia.
The Golden Hawks are coming off a victory over Central Lee 33-13.
Brady Weber lead Mid-Prairie under center with 1,036 passing yards and nine touchdowns.
Hudson Ehrenfelt has 870 yards rushing with 10 touchdowns. He also has 287 yards receiving.
Cobi Hershberger has 305 receiving yards to lead the Golden Hawks along with one score.
Kaden Kos has 54.4 tackles, four tackles for a loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery.
No. 6 Sigourney-Keota (6-1) at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (3-4)
Sigourney-Keota has been red-hot as of late, as the Cobras haven’t lost since week one.
They will look to keep up the win streak on Friday against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
The Rockets were defeated by Pleasantville a week ago.
In the passing game, Sawyer Stout lead with 400 yards and five touchdowns.
On the ground, Kale Clarahan has amassed 818 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Cole Kindred has 298 receiving yards and three scores for the Cobras and Jake Moore has 32.5 tackles, five tackles for a loss, one sack and one interception.
No. 1 Winfield-Mt. Union (7-0) vs. HLV (1-7)
Winfield-Mt. Union will look to end the regular season with a win on Friday as the Wolves matchup with HLV.
The Wolves are back after not play last week due to a forfeit.
Jake Edwards leads the Wolves with 973 passing yards and 17 touchdowns.
Cam Buffington has 864 yards on the ground with 11 scores and 516 yards receiving with 10 touchdowns as well.
Buffington also has 64 total tackles with 11.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.
