Football rankings: WACO at 2 alone, Columbus gets votes
Warriors one point above Don Bosco, Wildcats enter the fray

The Columbus wildcats are off to one of the hottest starts in school history, so it’s no surprise they’re finally getting a little statewide recognition.
After a daunting 49-20 win over Lisbon, the Wildcats are 4-0 and have outscored opponents by an average of 49.5-13.2.
The unbeaten Wildcats picked up two votes in the Class A poll. That puts them three spots away from the Top-10 and just two away from Alburnett, whom the Wildcats will host in the final game of the season.
In Class 8-Player, WACO shook off Don Bosco for the No. 2 spot. Last week the Warriors and Dons were tied for the second position, but WACO is now one vote above Don Bosco for the spot.
WACO continued their dominant run by wiping out Iowa Valley 54-26. The Warriors host New London at homecoming this week.
Class 8-Player’s Remsen, St. Mary’s and Class 4A’s Lewis Central are the only teams in the entire poll to get all six first place votes. Parity reigns supreme in Class 5A, Class 1A and Class A. In Class 1A, four different team spread out six first place votes. In 5A and A, three teams earned first place votes.
