It was yet another eventful week of Iowa high school football, especially in the Southeast corner of the state.
With week three now completed, The Gazette has released yet another round of 2023 Iowa High School Football Rankings.
Through three weeks, the Union area has been represented in each.
This week, two Union area squads grace the poll. Those two teams are the Wolves of Winfield-Mt. Union and the Cobras of Sigourney-Keota.
WMU holds the same position as it did a week ago. The Wolves currently sit at No. 2 in the 8-Player rankings.
Meanwhile, Sigourney-Keota comes in at No. 10 in the Class 1A rankings.
Winfield-Mt. Union is coming off a big victory Friday night in which they took down fellow Southeast Iowa Super Conference North rival and former No. 5 WACO 34-8.
The loss knocked the Warrior’s out of the top 10 rankings. WACO is currently two spots outside the rankings, receiving four votes.
As for Sigourney-Keota, the Cobras picked up win number two on Friday with a hard-fought battle over Mid-Prairie 41-35.
Columbus, who was formerly No. 10 in Class A, is out of the rankings this week after suffering a loss to Lisbon, 34-28.
The Lions have overtaken the No. 10 spot.
