Football roundup: Cobras win thriller, Panthers stay unbeaten

Sigourney-Keota (2-1) 41, Mid-Prairie (0-3) 35
Sigourney-Keota and Mid-Prairie put on a scoring clinic in the two’s Friday night matchup.
After a half, the Cobras and Golden Hawks were knotted at 14-14.
Both squads had a scoring jolt in the third. Sigourney-Keota went on to score 19 and Mid-Prairie 14 to make it 33-28 Cobras heading into the fourth.
The Cobras went on to score eight in the fourth and the Golden Hawks seven.
For Sigourney-Keota, Kale Clarahan ran for 259 yards and five touchdowns. Sawyer Stout finished with 107 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, Ashton Schwab ended with eight tackles.
For Mid-Prairie, Brady Weber threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns.
Hudson Ehrenfelt rushed for 79 yards.
Cobi Hershberger and Dylan Henry both caught five passes with Henry carding 89 yards and two touchdowns and Hershberger 66 yards and one touchdown.
Kaden Kos caught a touchdown as well.
Hershberger finished with a team-high 13.5 tackles.
Pekin (3-0) 36, Danville (1-2) 13
Pekin picked up its third victory in a row on Friday against Danville.
Will Adam threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Adam rushed for 55 yards as well with one score.
Sven Dahlstrom rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown.
On the receiving end, Robert Brown rushed four times for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Deklan Hampton rushed once for a 47 yard touchdown.
Defensively, Dahlstrom and Adam both finished with seven total tackles.
Van Buren County (1-2) 28, Highland (0-3) 22
Van Buren County just edged Highland on Friday.
The Warriors led the Huskies 20-6 at the break, but Highland stormed back in the second half.
Highland took the lead with 11 minutes to go, 22-20, but Van Buren County found the end zone once more to retake the lead and put it away.
Lisbon (3-0) 34, Columbus (1-2) 28
Columbus scored one touchdown in each quarter on Friday against Lisbon.
After one, the Wildcats held a 7-6 lead on the Lions, but a big second quarter by Lisbon made the difference.
Columbus once again scored seven in the second quarter, but Lisbon put 21 points on the board to take a 27-14 lead into the half.
The Wildcats scored one touchdown each in the third and fourth, but the Lions lone touchdown in the fourth was enough to get by.
In the loss, Kaden Amigon ran for 333 yards with two touchdowns.
Trevor Phillips completed two passes for 38 yards. Amigon and Riley Kaalberg caught those two passes.
Defensively, Tyson Kaalberg finished with 6.5 tackles.
Davis County (1-2) 23, Cardinal (0-3) 12
Cardinal came up just two scores short Friday at Davis County.
The Mustangs scored 10 in the first quarter followed by six more in the second.
Cardinal matched Davis County with six themselves in the second and at the half it was 16-6 in favor of the Mustangs.
Both squads went scoreless through the third, but each scored in the fourth. However, the Comets could never find the 12 points to win it.
Alec Rachford threw for 37 yards and one touchdown in the loss for Cardinal. On the ground, Rachford ran for 82 yards and a touchdown as well.
Chase Johnson caught two passes for 11 yards and a touchdown.
Craig Miller totaled 12 tackles to lead the Comets.
Iowa Valley (3-1) 68, New London (0-3) 22
Iowa Valley blitzed out to a 22-0 lead over New London in the first quarter.
The Tigers scored 22 themselves in the second, but Iowa Valley matched its first quarter total for a 44-22 lead at the break.
Iowa Valley went on to score another 16 in the third and eight more in the fourth to seal it.
Gavin Menke-Bailey threw for a touchdown in the game for New London. He rushed for 154 yards with two touchdowns as well.
Cale Westerbeck caught the lone touchdown pass.
Menke-Bailey led New London with 10 tackles.
