Football roundup: Highland gets first win of the season

Highland (1-6) 20, Louisa-Muscatine (0-7) 18
Highland grabbed its first victory of the season on Friday against Louisa-Muscatine. The Falcons were also searching for their first win.
The Huskies led 8-6 after the first quarter and that two point margin would win it.
Highland and L-M both scored six in the third and fourth.
No. 2 Winfield-Mt. Union (7-0), Mormon Trail (1-6) Forfeit
Winfield-Mt. Union stays perfect after Mormon Trail had to forfeit the contest.
No. 10 WACO (6-1) 51, English Valleys (2-5) 6
WACO added another notch to the win column on Friday, playing host to English Valleys.
The Warriors jumped out to a 30 points lead after the first quarter.
WACO added 14 more in the second and seven in the fourth on its way to win number six.
Clayton Miller went 5-for-6 with 97 yards and three touchdowns in the way. Reece Oswald also threw a touchdown pass for 32 yards.
On the ground, Louden Huisenga, John McLaughlin and Lerik McCarty all scored.
Gage Samo finished with a team-high 68 yards receiving with one touchdown. Colton Leichty caught two touchdown passes with 21 yards. Hunter Hughes had a touchdown catch as well for 32 yards.
Huisenga finished with seven tackles for WACO with two for a loss. Joel Meyer and Chase Waterhouse both had five tackles.
Columbus (5-2) 61, Van Buren County (3-4) 14
Columbus did much of its damage in the first quarter on Friday night against Van Buren County.
The Wildcats scored 40 points in the first quarter alone.
Columbus added seven each in the second, third and fourth the rest of the way. VBC went on to score six in the second and eight in the fourth.
For Columbus, Trevor Phillips completed 7-of-8 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Kade Amigon rushed nine times for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Riley Kaalberg and Cole Storm carried the ball five times for 116 yards and 33 yards respectfully. Both scored as well.
On the receiving end, Cael Phillips caught four balls for 69 yards. Amigon and Kaalberg both caught touchdown passes as well.
Defensively, Riley and Tyson Kaalberg both finished with 7.5 tackles.
No. 7 Sigourney-Keota (6-1) 82, Colfax-Mingo (1-6) 0
Sigourney-Keota put together a dominant performance Friday against Colfax-Mingo.
The Cobras scored a whopping 42 points in the first quarter and added 14 in the second, 19 in the third and seven in the fourth on their way to an 82 point shutout win.
Sawyer Stout threw just two passes in the game, both touchdowns for 71 yards.
On the ground, Ike Molyneux led with 82 yards on three carries with two touchdowns. Issac Bruns ran for 73 yards on three touches for two scores as well. Kale Clarahan, Ayden Galindo and Stout all rushing one in too.
Clarahan and Chase Sieren caught the Cobras two touchdowns.
Defensively, Ashton Schwab tallied 4.5 tackles with two for a loss.
Pekin (5-2) 44, Wapello (1-6) 0
Pekin notches back-to-back wins with the victory over Wapello.
The Panther led just 7-0 after one quarter, but the Panthers went on to hold the Indians scoreless, while tallying 30 between the second and third quarter.
Will Adam went 7-for-14 at quarterback with a pair of touchdown passes to Robert Brown.
On the ground, Sven Dahlstrom rushed for 136 yards with two scores. Adam tallied 94 yards and one rushing touchdown. Henry Adam ran for 79 yards and a score as well.
Along with Brown’s 30 yards, Deklan Hampton ended with 32 yards and Nolan Glick 31. Henry Adam had 18 yards.
Dahlstrom finished with 6.5 tackles.
Moravia (7-1) 74, New London (1-6) 14
New London couldn’t keep up with Moravia’s high powered offense on Friday night.
The Mohawks scored 14 mores or more in each of the four quarters.
Moravia led 22-6 after the first and added 14 in the second, 16 in the third and 22 in the fourth.
Pella Christian (5-2) 43, Cardinal (1-6) 0
Pella Christian scored 22 points in the first quarter against Cardinal on Friday night. The Eagles then added another 21 points to their slate in the second.
