Football roundup: Mid-Prairie secures first win

Mid-Prairie (1-3) 42, West Burlington (3-1) 21
Mid-Prairie had a tough start to the season, in which they lost three straight games by one score or less.
On Friday, the Golden Hawks grabbed their first win of the season with a 42-21 win over West Burlington.
It was a back and forth battle early on, as the Golden Hawks and Falcons traded leads.
The Golden Hawks took a 7-0 lead to start, but the Falcons answered back with two touchdowns of their own.
However, the Golden Hawks followed with two scores of their own as Hudson Ehrenfelt scored the second of his four touchdowns on the night and Brady Weber connected deep with Ace Peck for a 43 yard touchdown to make it 21-14 Mid-Prairie at the half.
West Burlington, Notre Dame didn’t go down without swinging.
The Falcons tied things up out of the break on a 15-play drive that spanned 89 yards and closed with a Quincy Collins touchdown.
But Mid-Prairie finished strong. The Golden Hawks went on to score 21 straight to win it.
Weber hit Kaden Kos on a 48 yard touchdown, Keatyn Meyers recovered a Falcons fumble to set up another rushing score by Ehrenfelt and then Ehrenfelt got in once more for his fourth score of the night.
Weber led the Golden Hawks in passing with 213 yards and two touchdowns.
Ehrenfelt finished with 117 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Ace Peck caught four passes for 98 yards and a score.
Kaden Kos finished with 13 tackles, five tackles for a loss and one interception.
Sigourney-Keota (3-1) 60, Cardinal (0-4) 0
Sigourney-Keota took care of Cardinal on Friday night.
The Cobras scored 34 points in the first quarter and led 48-0 by the half.
S-K added six more in both the third and fourth to finish it off.
For the Cobras, Isaac Bruns ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Bruns also had 27 receiving yards.
Brayden Wood threw for 55 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for one as well.
Caden Clarahan finished with five tackles and 3.5 for a loss.
WACO (4-1) 49, HLV (0-5) 20
WACO picked up win number four on Friday with a 49-20 victory over HLV.
The Warriors led 28-6 at the half and closed with 21 more in the final half, while giving up just 14 to the Warriors.
Clayton Miller threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Miller also rushed for 53 yards and two more scores.
Louden Huisenga finished with 109 yards on the ground and three scores.
Gage Samo was the Warriors leading receiver with six catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Miller led defensively with eight tackles, three for a loss.
Central City (2-3) 46, New London (0-4) 20
New London was shutout for three straight quarters against Central City on Friday.
The Tigers trailed 30-0 at the half. They were able to edge the Wildcats 20-14 in the second half, but the deficit was too great.
Gavin Menke-Bailey threw for 29 yards in the loss. London Franklin ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Menke-Bailey ended the night with 9.5 tackles.
Montezuma (4-1) 55, Winfield-Mt. Union (2-2) 14
Winfield-Mt. Union had trouble containing Montezuma on Friday evening.
The Braves scored 35 points in the first half to the Wolves’ 14. WMU never found anymore points from then on, while Montezuma add 20 more to its total through the third and fourth.
Cody Milks finished with 138 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Wolves.
Colin Anderson was the leading rusher with 14 yards. Max Edwards ended with seven receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Lane Genkinger had 9.5 tackles for WMU as well.
Wapello (2-2) 14, Van Buren County (0-4) 6
Van Buren County came up just short to Wapello on Friday night.
The Warriors trailed the Indians by just one, 7-6, at the half, but would never score again. Meanwhile, Wapello added seven more in the fourth.
No. 6 Lisbon (4-0) 49, Highland (2-2) 6
Highland had a tough go with No. 6 (Class A) Lisbon on Friday.
The Huskies kept it close through the first half, trailing just 7-6 after the first and 14-6 at the half.
But the Huskies never scored again, while the Lions scored 35 unanswered, 21 in the third and 14 in the fourth, to end it.
The Lions ran wild, rushing for 389 yards in the win.
Logan McFarland threw for 81 yards in the loss. Garrett Beeson finished with 61 rushing yards and Hunter Seibel ended with one reception for 71 yards.
Jose Ramirez had the Huskies lone touchdown.
