Football roundup: WMU notches undefeated regular season

No. 1 Winfield-Mt. Union (8-0) 66, HLV (1-8) 0
Winfield-Mt. Union closes out the regular season at a perfect 8-0 after the dominant win over HLV.
The Wolves scored 36 points in the first quarter followed by 14 in the second and eight each in the third and fourth.
Jake Edwards went 4-for-4 with 54 yards and one touchdown in the win.
On the ground, Cam Buffington rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns.
Carter Loyd and Abram Edwards both caught two passes for a total of 35 and 19 yards with Loyd notching the lone touchdown.
Buffington led the way defensively with 9.5 tackles. two sacks and two tackles for a loss. Kael Johnson followed with four tackles.
Pekin (6-2) 61, Louisa-Muscatine (0-8) 6
Pekin had no problem with Louisa-Muscatine on Friday. The Panthers didn’t give up a single point until the fourth quarter.
By that time, Pekin scored 19 in the first and held a 47-0 advantage at the half. The Panthers added 14 more in the third on their way to the victory.
Will Adam went 3-for-4 with 120 yards and two touchdowns. He added 46 more yards on the ground.
Sven Dahlstrom had a team-high 190 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Henry Adam followed with 94 yards and two scored.
Robert Brown also had a rushing touchdown on a 82 yard touchdown run. Brown also led in receiving with 61 yards and one score.
Dahlstrom tallied a best of 9.5 tackles. Adam followed with 7.5. The pair each had interceptions as well with Adam recovering a fumble too.
No. 6 Sigourney-Keota (7-1) 62, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (3-5) 12
Sigourney-Keota picked up its seventh straight victory with a win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Friday.
The Cobras led 49-12 at the half and went on to outscore the Rockets 13-0 between the final two quarters.
Sawyer Stout completed one pass in the contest for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Stout also led the Cobras with 75 rushing yards and one score.
Issac Bruns ended with 56 yards and two scores. Kale Clarahan followed with two scores with 41 yards and Brady Clark rushed for one touchdown as well.
Kindred caught the lone touchdown pass.
Defensively, Caden Clarahan ended with seven tackles. Aiden McGuire totaled 5.5 tackles.
Mid-Prairie (4-4) 42, Albia (4-4) 22
Mid-Prairie closed out its regular season on Friday with a district victory over Albia 42-22.
Columbus (6-2) 63, Danville (4-4) 18
Columbus led Danville 28-0 after one quarter on Friday night.
The Wildcats went on to score 21 in the second and 14 in the third to win it.
Trevor Phillips went 4-for-4 in the win with 48 yards and a touchdown.
Kaden Amigon ran for 340 yards and six touchdowns. Riley Kaalberg followed with 178 yards and two scores.
Amigon, Cael Phillips, Leo Lara and Kaalberg all had one reception.
Defensively, Tyson Kaalberg had 6.5 tackles. Riley Kaalberg followed with 5.5.
Highland (2-6) 28, Wapello (1-7) 0
Highland grabbed win number two on Friday with a shutout victory over Wapello.
The Huskies led by just six at the half after scoring once in the second quarter, but they went on to score eight in the third and 14 in the fourth to win it.
Garrett Beeson went 1-for-1 in the matchup for 15 yards and one touchdown thrown to Ayden Havel.
Logan McFarland rushed for 124 and one touchdown. Sage Hartley-Norman followed with 92 yards and two scores.
Logan McFarland notched 6.5 tackles with one interception.
English Valleys (3-5) 52, New London (1-7) 40
New London closed out its season with a 52-40 loss to English Valleys.
The Tigers led 22-6 after the first quarter and 34-28 at the half, but the Bears went on to outscore the Tigers 24-6 in the final two quarters.
Pleasantville (5-3) 59, Cardinal (1-7) 0
Cardinal couldn’t keep up with Pleasantville on Friday night as the Comets fell in their final regular season contest.
The Trojans led 26-0 after one quarter of action then 46-0 at the half.
Cardinal could never get on the board as Pleasantville scored six more in the third and seven in the fourth to seal the victory.
No. 5 Lisbon (8-0) 45, Van Buren County (3-5) 8
Van Buren County couldn’t keep up with No. 5 Lisbon on Friday.
The Warriors trailed just 13-0 after one quarter of action, but the Lions went on to score 32 in the second.
VBC’s lone score came in the third.
