Crouse wins conference title
PELLA ? Tyler Crouse, formerly of Hedrick, earned Iowa Conference honors as he competed for Central College at the league?s indoor track and field championship meet Friday and Saturday at H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse in Pella.
Crouse, a two-time letterwinner, easily won the weight throw competition, ripping off a toss of 55-4.75 on his fifth attempt to win by almost two feet. He also finished sixth in the shot put with a 46-06.75 mark.
Crouse helped the Dutch men?s squad capture its second straight conference title, scoring 212.16 points, just shy of its 2010 record (213.83) and almost 30 points ahead of runner-up Wartburg College (183).
