Washington standout Adalyn Long is one of four area girls basketball players who will participate in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Senior Larry Niemeyer All-Star Games Saturday at Cedar Falls High School. The games will feature some of the state’s top senior talent across all five classes.
The selected players in classes 1A and 2A were divided into three teams, while 3A players were split into two teams. Two additional teams were also created from a pool of players from 3A, 4A and 5A schools. Long will represent Washington on the 3A White Team, which will face the 3A Grey Team at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Long wrapped up a stellar Washington career by earning First-Team All-Southeast Conference honors for the second straight season. Long was also named to the Class 3A All-Southeast District team by the IGCA. She averaged 13.7 points per game along with 2.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and two steals.
Led by Long, Washington doubled its win total from six to 12 this season. Long also helped the Demons secure their first postseason win since 2020-21 when they defeated Fairfield 63-21 in the first round of the 3A Region 5 playoffs.
The 3A White Team will also be coached by Washington alum and Williamsburg coach Stephanie Dacey. Dacey, formerly Stephanie Rich, won three consecutive state titles with the Demons from 1999-2001 before playing for Wisconsin. Dacey led Williamsburg to a 3A Region 5 championship and an appearance in the state tournament this season.
Cardinal standout Kolbi Saner will play for the 2A White Team. Saner wrapped up her senior season with an IGCA 2A All-Southeast District nod after averaging 14 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.
Highland’s Emersyn Schultz and Pekin’s Abby Guise were selected to the 1A White and Grey Teams, respectively, and will face each other in the final game of the day at 2:15.
Schultz was one of three senior members of the Huskies roster this season, and earned All-SEISC North Honorable Mention honors after averaging 5.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Highland finished with a 20-4 record and a perfect 17-0 mark in conference play.
Guise helped lead Pekin to a 9-7 SEISC North record under first-year head coach Neil Hartz. Guise averaged a double-double with 12 points and 10.6 rebounds — the second most in the conference — along with 2.3 assists and 2.9 steals per game. Guise was named First-Team All-SEISC North.
