Four top-two finishes for FMS track teams

The Fairfield eighth-graders continued their impressive run through the 2009 season with another win at their home invite Monday evening. The seventh-grade team also turned in a solid performance finishing runner-up to Washington.

For the eighth-graders, first-place ribbons went to the 1600-medley team of Dillon Laughlin, Forest Miller, Alex Love and Aaron Gevock, the 4x400 team of Brandon Taglauer, Luis Giron, Dillon Fry and Alex Love, Jacob Mineart in the shot put as well as Daniel Schwarz in the high jump.

Winning events for the seventh-grade team was the 4x800 team of Matt Carr, Jordan Whitney, Chet Vogt and Riley Hammel, and Mason Ellis in the Discus. Carr also won the 1600-meter run for Fairfield

FMS girls run at Fort Madison

FORT MADISON ? The Fairfield eighth-grade girls? track team finished in first place at the Fort Madison Middle School Relays Monday evening, while the seventh-grade team ended up with second-place finish.

Individual first places for the girls came from Erica Winslow in the seventh-grade shot put and Brittany Kurtz in the eighth-grade shot put. Miranda Metcalf won the eight-grade discus and Jessica Lamb completed the hat trick winning the 200, 400 and 800.
