Freshmen girls roll Muscatine, start basketball season 2-0

The Mt. Pleasant freshmen girls? team is now 2-0 after trouncing Muscatine, 76-13, on Thursday night.

The Panthers held Muscatine scoreless in the first quarter, going up 28-0, and had a 47-4 edge by halftime. At the end of the third, it was 64-9 in the Panthers? favor.

Mary Wester had 23 points to lead Mt. Pleasant in the contest. Kelsi Phipps played the second quarter and scored 18 pts. Hannah Becker scored 14, Natalie Ita put up nine, Kaitlyn Johnson added six, Shelby Allender added five, and Jena Stukerjurgen scored one point.

It was the second win for the girls this season. They also took a victory on Tuesday night, beating Ottumwa on the road by a final score of 54 - 31.

The team will host Fairfield tonight at 4:45 p.m.
